Welcome
Art is fabric and embroidery
Melanie Stewart
Out of necessity and the desire to wear clothing with style, garments were deconstructed and then reconstructed into something more beautiful – an early practitioner of upcycling.
More formally, Melanie has an Advanced Level in Art with Art History from Abingdon College, a college set in the heart of the British countryside. My senior thesis delved into the history of ladies’ attire during the period when the Royal Academy was established and ladies’ had little say in matters of importance. The esthetic, for the rich, was beautiful and gowns were fitted with exquisite precision.
Current work includes explorations in different methods of embroidery.

To be inspired by Nature is to manifest beauty and magic. To honor Nature is a duty of care.
